Our Story

During DNB Ophthalmology residency, our founders spent countless hours sifting through 900-page textbooks, trying to distill what actually mattered for the exam. We asked seniors for notes, bought question banks that were outdated, and still felt unprepared walking into the exam hall.

That frustration became OphthaMCQ. We are a team of ophthalmologists who have passed FRCOphth, DNB, ICO/FICO, FAICO and NEET-SS. We know the exact syllabus, the high-yield topics, and the exam patterns because we have lived through them — recently enough that the pattern is still fresh.

Who actually writes the questions at OphthaMCQ?

Every MCQ is written and reviewed by an ophthalmologist who has cleared the relevant exam — FRCOphth, ICO/FICO, FAICO, DNB, NEET-SS, PD-CET or OKAP. No medical students, no copywriters, no AI-generated stems. The author and reviewer initials are tracked internally on every question.

How do you keep content factually correct?

Each question lists its primary reference (textbook, edition, page or guideline). When a major guideline changes — for example new EGS glaucoma targets or updated diabetic macular oedema protocols — the editorial lead flags affected questions and rewrites the explanation within the next 6-month refresh.

Is the team Indian only, or international?

The team is intentionally mixed. We have FRCOphth-cleared authors in the UK, ICO and FAICO authors in India and the Middle East, and DNB and NEET-SS authors across AIIMS, Sankara, LV Prasad and Aravind. This is why the question bank reads naturally for both Indian PG exams and international exams like FRCOphth and OKAP.

Do you partner with any institution or society?

We are an independent editorial team. We are not officially affiliated with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, ICO, AIOS, NBE or AAO. We follow their published syllabi and reference their guidelines, but our content is independently authored.

Can I contribute or report an error?

Yes — every question and notes chapter has a "Report" button in the app and on the store. Verified errors are corrected within 7 working days and the reporting candidate gets credited in the next release notes. Working ophthalmologists who want to author topics can reach out via the /contact page.
