Yes. ICO and FICO are internationally recognised credentials valued by Indian and international employers as proof of standardised ophthalmology knowledge.
How many attempts do most candidates need to pass FICO?
Most well-prepared candidates pass each ICO paper on their first or second attempt. Past papers practice is the strongest predictor of first-attempt success.
Can I take ICO Basic Visual Sciences during MS year 1?
Yes. BVS overlaps heavily with MS year-1 syllabus and is widely taken during the first year of residency.
How is FICO different from ICO?
FICO (Fellow of the ICO) is the advanced qualification awarded after passing all four ICO papers, including the Advanced exam. ICO refers to the individual papers.
